Hello everyone! I hope you all had a great weekend. I have a few questions for all my Moms. What was your Birth experience(s) like? Did you have expectations, wants, desires, a Birth Plan? If you did, were they met? My two experiences were vastly different and I found that my expectations were also different. I'd love to hear from everyone.
Hi there! I only have one son who is 4 years old so I only have one birth experience, and nothing to compare it to. I feel my experience was fairly good, but it was nothing that I expected! I had a birth plan in place and when I went into labor and got to the hospital, initially it was followed to a T. I had asked for an epidural at 4 centimeters, and they followed that. I asked that they only allow certain people in the room while I was laboring and they made sure that was followed. Everything was great, until about 12 hours into labor when my doctor realized that I was only at 6 centimeters and had been for over 6 hours, and my son was already partially stuck in the birth canal. It was making his heart rate slow significantly so she made the decision to take him by C-section. Once that decision was made, everything happened really quickly. Everyone was rushing around and that scared me. From the time I knew I was having a C-section to the time my son was born, it was only about 30 minutes time. He was born at 11:26pm and was in perfect health! I was under the impression that I would be in pain from the surgery afterwards, but I really didn't have that much! The hospital staff was great with the pain control. My son and I stayed at the hospital for 3 days and he stayed in my room the whole time. I breastfed and we bonded really well. My whole experience was pretty pleasant except that scary 30 minutes before the C-section!
